On Saturday 15th June, BRASS with the support of the Bedford Borough Council and the Bedfordshire FA, organised a football tournament for the refugees and asylum seekers from Bedford.

The tournament was played in a very friendly, positive and enthusiastic environment, with a great level of commitment from all involved.

Six teams entered the competition, with teams representing the Bedfordshire Police, social carers, BPHA, the Polish community in Bedford and 2 teams of local refugees and asylum seekers.

Around 40 players were involved, having a great time playing football together. The winner at the end of the day was BPHA, runners up was the Bedfordshire Police and the third place went to one of the refugee teams.

It was brilliant to be involved and we look forward to supporting future events to help promote opportunities and the support available to refugees and asylum seekers.
